Coaching & Consulting

with Robert Louis DeMayo

I work with writers, authors, and individuals who want clear, thoughtful guidance

—whether that means positioning a novel for the right readers, strengthening

a book’s presentation, or navigating a season of personal reinvention

with more confidence and purpose.

How I Help

I help authors strengthen underperforming Amazon KDP listings by improving the pieces that shape how a book is found, understood, and judged at first glance. That may include refining categories and keywords, sharpening book descriptions and back-cover copy, and advising on cover direction so the entire package more clearly reaches the right readers.

This work matters to me because I come to it not only as a consultant but as a working author. I’ve written and published multiple books across print, eBook, and audiobook formats, built descriptions and promotional copy for my own catalog, and spent years thinking about how books are positioned for readers in a crowded marketplace.

You can hire me to:

· Evaluate what a novel is truly about and clarify its core pitch

· Select and refine Amazon KDP categories and keywords

· Strengthen book descriptions and back-cover copy

· Advise on cover direction and overall visual positioning

· Review full Amazon listings to improve clarity, appeal, and reader targeting

Who This is For

This work is for authors and writers who want their books to be more clearly and effectively presented to readers.

You might be:

· Preparing to launch a new novel and unsure how to position it

· Sitting on an underperforming Amazon KDP listing that you know could do better

· Moving from draft to publication and wanting guidance on categories, keywords, copy, and cover direction

· Building or refining an author platform and needing clearer, more consistent messaging across your books

If you recognize yourself in any of these situations, we can look at your work together and give your book a better chance of reaching the readers it was written for.

How it WOrks

Most of this work happens one-on-one, tailored to your book and your goals.

We start with a conversation about your manuscript, your current listing (if it’s live), and where you feel stuck.

I read and review your existing materials—categories, keywords, description, cover, and any notes you send. We meet online to walk through what I’m seeing, clarify what the book really is, and outline a positioning plan.

I follow up with concrete recommendations and, when needed, revised copy and cover-direction notes you can implement or hand to your designer.

Depending on the project, we can focus on a single listing, a new launch, or a broader author platform over several sessions.

Rates - I offer this work on an hourly basis. That lets us scale to your needs—whether you want a focused review of one book or ongoing support across multiple titles.

· One-on-one consulting: $40 per hour

· Sessions conducted online (video or audio, depending on your preference)

· Project scope and estimated hours discussed upfront, so there are no surprises

If you’re interested in working together, you can start with a single hour to see if the fit and approach feel right, then decide whether you’d like to continue.

Personal Coaching

In addition to publishing support, I also work one-on-one with people moving through seasons of reinvention who want more confidence, clarity, and courage. For some, that means becoming more at ease in social spaces, learning how to connect more naturally with others, or stepping back into life after loss, divorce, or a long period of feeling stuck.

My approach is practical, encouraging, and rooted in real experience. Coaching may include conversation, confidence-building, movement, social ease, dating, or simply learning to be more open, expressive, and comfortable in your own skin.

We might focus on:

· Building confidence in social settings and conversation

· Becoming more comfortable with dance, movement, and self-expression

· Navigating dating and connection with more ease and self-awareness

· Rebuilding confidence after divorce, loss, or major life change

· Developing a more open, grounded, and adventurous way of moving through life

Writing Workshops

This Fall I’ll be leading a writing workshop at Yavapai College, blending craft discussion with travel and exploration stories to help writers bring their own experiences to the page.

I’m also developing online workshops on topics such as writing from place, weaving research into story, and turning real journeys into narrative. If you’d like to be notified when new online workshops open, send me a quick note, and I’ll add you to the list. These workshops are designed for adult writers at all levels, from beginners to published authors.
